Covid-19 Vaccination Programme

Data has been flowing in about growing numbers of Covid-19 cases in Rochdale.

There is concern that we might be heading into a fourth wave of the virus. This is causing particular worry, as take up of boosters is lower than we’d like, and the efficiency of boosters will be waning for those people who were boosted earlier in the programme.

We’re very aware of residents’ fatigue around Covid-19 and the desire for a return to normality.  This is coupled with the fact that many of the legal restrictions have now been lifted. We are in a good position in Rochdale, with reasonably high vaccination rates across the population, but there are still some significant vaccine inequalities.

So, we’d like to ask that you continue to have your booster vaccinations in order to keep everyone safe.

There is a new cohort eligible for another booster.  These are outlined below.

Monday 21 March go live date for Spring Booster vaccinations for the following cohorts:

  • Adults aged 75 years and over
  • Residents in a care home for older adults
  • Individuals aged 12 years and over who are immunosuppressed

Invitations are going out from the national team.  Access via:

  • Rochdale Infirmary (Walk In & National Booking System)
  • Pharmacy sites
  • Mass Vacc sites (Etihad)
  • Local Vaccination sites (Hopwood, Littleborough, Middleton, N1R)
  • Care Homes to be done by Primary Care Networks

AND

Monday 4 April go live date for first doses for healthy 5-11 year olds.  Invitations going out from national team. Access via:

  • Rochdale Infirmary (Walk In & National Booking System)

  • Our Evergreen offer also continues, offering 1st and 2nd doses across the borough. If you’ve not had your first two vaccines yet, it is not too late to start building your protection.

You can find details of all our vaccine walk in clinics here.

Please do keep promoting the messages of:

  1. Getting vaccinated;
  2. Letting fresh air in if meeting indoors, or meeting outside;
  3. Wearing a face covering in crowded and enclosed spaces, especially where you come into contact with people you do not usually meet, when rates of transmission are high;
  4. Staying at home if you are unwell;
  5. Taking a test if you have COVID-19 symptoms, and staying at home and avoiding contact with other people if you test positive; and
  6. Washing your hands and following advice to ‘Catch it, Bin it, Kill it’.
  7. Taking a rapid lateral flow test if it is expected that you will be in close contact with a number of people on that day.   LFTs are still freely available until 1st April.

Thank you again for all your support.
