Droylsden businessman Wayne Coyle set up Community Cutz as a way of bringing young and old together in his local community.
Every other Wednesday young hairdressing trainees offer free hair styling to local pensioners. For many of the older people who attend the salon, it's the only time they get out of the house. A real sense of family has developed amongst the stylists and their regulars.
"I love it!" says regular Shirley "They really look after us." Another local who uses the service is Cath who said "It's like a family, I never miss it. They always make sure we've got a brew".
Bryony is one of the professional stylists who helps teach the young trainees. "The students get a lot out of it." she says, " As a teacher I really see their confidence improve"
Action Together gave Wayne help and guidance in how to set up a CIC (Community Interest Company). Wayne says he couldn't have done it without the help of Action together. "They held my hand every step of the way" says Wayne.
