Comic Relief - Change Makers

Aims/priorities: The new Change Makers funding programme has been created by Comic Relief as it looks to the future after the devastating impact of the coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic.

The focus for this call is about creating change in the wider world, whether that is locally or nationally. Comic Relief is looking for 'game changing' organisations that will make a significant contribution to their sector. This could be finding new ways of working in the wake of COVID-19, contributing evidence that will move things forward, cross-sector collaboration which recognises the way issues intersect, advocacy and campaigning work, or other change making efforts that are relevant to Comic Relief’s social change themes.

The current themes are:

  • Children Survive and Thrive
  • Gender Justice
  • Safe Place to Be - Homelessness
  • Safe Place to Be - Migration
  • Global Mental Health

Who can apply? Not-for-profit organisations in the UK

Grant amount: Between £150,000 and £600,000 are available for three to five years. The average annual funding being requested should not be more than two thirds of the organisation's most recent annual income. Capital costs should not make up more than 25% of the funding request.

Application process: There is a two-stage application process.

  • The first stage is to submit an Expression of Interest.
  • Shortlisted proposals will be invited to submit a stage 2 proposal which will be reviewed by the Comic Relief team. Final applicants will be selected for a full assessment to take place in January or February 2021.
