Annual reports

Each year we publish our annual report on 30 June. This highlights what we have done during the past year, the projects we have carried out and what we have achieved. This year, we have also looked back at the first 10 years of Healthwatch Tameside.

You can read our report at www.healthwatchtameside.co.uk/report/2023-06-30/our-annual-report-202223

The 10 local Healthwatch in Greater Manchester work together on some projects, and a separate report has been published highighting the joint work. This can be read at www.healthwatchtameside.co.uk/report/2023-06-30/healthwatch-greater-manchester-annual-report-202223

Changes to primary care NHS Complaints process

From 1 July 2023 the way members of the public make a complaint about primary care services to the commissioner is changing. Primary care services are GPs, dentists, opticians or pharmacy services. There is no change to the process if you want to complain directly to the provider of the service.

After 1 July, if you want to make a complaint about primary care services to the commissioner you will now contact Greater Manchester Integrated Care Board (ICB) instead of NHS England. More information is available on our website at www.healthwatchtameside.co.uk/news/2023-06-30/how-you-make-complaint-about-primary-care-services-changing

Carers Strategy survey

Tameside Council want to know what is important to unpaid carers who live in Tameside.

The Tameside Carer’s survey aims to capture the experiences of unpaid carers, how they can be best supported and where services can improve. This survey will ensure that the voices of residents who look after someone one are heard and their views and opinions are acknowledged.

The survey only takes around 5-10 minutes to complete and asks for feedback on the proposed key themes of the Carers strategy. All responses to the survey will inform a three year strategy to ensure unpaid carers are supported and recognised for their hard work and contributions.

You can take part in the survey at www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/RSYFFSV . The survey will close on 23 July 2023.

Good to Know groups

Independent Age have free telephone information groups that are open to people over 65 years of age. The ‘Good to Know’ telephone groups invite a different guest speaker each week to discuss issues that matter to older people.

These one-off events offer social and learning opportunities to people who may not be online, or who may struggle to get out and about into their communities. They also connect older people with their peers and partner organisations, to hear and talk about issues that matter to them.

Think of these groups like a cup of tea and a chat at a community centre, but over the phone in the comfort of your living room. The current programme of regular Good to Know Groups is now open for new people to join.
