Urgent care survey report

In our survey earlier in the year, we asked about people's knowledge of accessing urgent and emergency care.

37% of the respondents were not aware of all the urgent care and emergency care options listed in the survey.

We also asked what the experience of using these services was like for them.

To read about our findings, have a look at the report on our website at www.healthwatchtameside.co.uk/report/2021-12-07/urgent-care-survey-report-2021

While you wait

The Covid-19 pandemic has meant some operations and procedures have been postponed. The NHS is working hard to get people seen as quickly as possible.

If you (or someone you care for) are waiting for delayed medical care, you are likely to have concerns and questions. The NHS in Greater Manchester is offering further information and advice, along with handy resources to help you manage your physical and mental wellbeing.

This includes:

One plus one

Tameside has recently purchased a 12 month licence for ‘Me You, Baby Too’ which is an online course for new and expectant parents, designed by One Plus One.

When couples have a baby, it can be a challenge to their relationship. This course is designed to help couples, so that their relationship remains intact and grows, as parents and as a couple.

The course link for parents is www.oneplusone.org.uk/parent-resources-for-england. They need to select Tameside from the Northern England map. Once the parent has registered, they will be able to see the course on their dashboard.

Caring for carers of Asian heritage

Are you a Carer for a child or young person with a disability, or do you care for an adult? Do you consider yourself to be of Asian Heritage?

Do you want to improve support for Asian Carers across Greater Manchester? Are you able and willing to listen and learn and share your experiences of your caring role?

There is a new group of Asian Carers who will be coming together to plan what needs to be put in place to help Asian Carers better and find out what matters to them.

The group will meet weekly or fortnightly (this will be decided by the group) and you will receive £10 per session for your time and experience. The group will meet mainly online initially so that carers from different parts of Greater Manchester can come together, and translation services can be arranged if required.

If you are interested in being involved either as an individual carer or a member of an organisation working with citizens from an Asian background please get in touch with Sally Holt on sally@wraparoundpartnership.org

Wraparound Partnership, 109 Portland Street, Manchester, M1 6DN

COVID-19 update

There are new measures in place to slow down the spread of the new Omicron variant. For up-to-date information about the latest rules and guidance see www.tameside.gov.uk/coronavirus

Additional people can now get the booster COVID-19 vaccination. On the Tameside Council website it says "When it is the right time, people will receive an invitation to book an appointment for their vaccine. Please do not contact the NHS to get an appointment until you hear from the NHS."

There are regular vaccination hubs around the borough, additional pop-up clinics and a vaccination bus. If you would like more information about the location and opening times for each, see www.tameside.gov.uk/covidvaccine.
