Health and Wellbeing College Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust

Health and wellbeing college

The aim of the college is to provide something very different for local people. They have moved away from the clinical focus offered by many traditional support services; instead they offer an educational approach designed to empower you to take control of your own health and wellbeing, while learning new skills, making friends and connecting with others. Their recovery-focused courses can support you to recognise your potential and make the most of your talents and resources, through self-management. In turn, this can help you to deal with any health challenges you may experience and achieve the things you want in life.

For more information see their website https://hwcollege.penninecare.nhs.uk/our-college

Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust

Developing a Spiritual Care Strategy

The Tameside and Glossop Chaplaincy service provides a service to all patients who are admitted into Hospital. Currently, the multi-faith chaplaincy team offers religious and spiritual care to people of faith and none.

The changing nature of communities in England means that chaplains respond to calls of increasing complexity. The diversity of religions and cultures within the population has grown. Chaplaincy provides highly skilled and compassionate spiritual support for patients, carers and staff facing situations which are at times harrowing and stressful.

As the Trust moves towards an Integrated Care model they recognise that the chaplaincy has to reflect this change.

To help them to achieve this and develop their future strategic priorities they are seeking your views that will best serve the needs of service users and align with the Trust objectives and values. You can take part in the survey at https://portal.tgh.nhs.uk/FFT/Home/LandingPage?SurveyId=129

BHA for equality in health and social care

Digital inclusion

Digital inclusion is making sure everyone has the means to access information online. This also includes having access to technology and knowing how to use this. Those who are digitally excluded may lack the skills, motivation and confidence or have no access to equipment.

learnmyway.com and skillsfortomorrow  are two websites which offer online modules and videos to help support digital engagement development.

There are two newsletters available addressing the barriers that may prevent communities from accessing health information online, and explaining in a simple way about using the internet.

Ashton Mosque pop-up vaccination clinic

COVID-19 vaccinations
If you're over 50, or over 18 and in a clinical risk group, it's not too late to have your Covid vaccinations. You might have changed your mind since it was first offered to you, or you might have just not got round to it.

There is a pop-up clinic at the Ashton Mosque car park on Thursday 8 April and Saturday 10 April between 10am and 4pm. This is for anyone eligible who lives in Tameside or Glossop, and an appointment is not needed.
Or you can book an appointment at your local vaccination centre, at a time and date to suit you, online at www.tamesideandglossop.nhsvaccinations.co.uk.  Or you can call your GP practice if you can't access the booking site.

If you are not yet eligible for your vaccination, you will receive an invitation when it is the right time.
