Sexual health clinics

In response to feedback about access to appointments and waiting times, The Northern Service (which includes The Orange Rooms in Ashton-under-Lyne) is making some changes. You can now book online from 12pm the working day before you want to attend. For full details see the poster they have produced.

There will be a small number of drop-in appointments available for emergencies.

COPD patients get the Aardman treatment

Patients in Greater Manchester have lent their voices and stories to a new Aardman animation, the creators of “Wallace & Gromit”, focused on COPD. The film sees real patients discuss their experiences and why it is important for people to have a voice in their care – all while animated as a variety of animals and pets.

It also encourages patients to have their say on their care as part of a new pilot feedback project, “Rate My Inhaler” currently running in Greater Manchester as part of a wider COPD programme.

Health Innovation Manchester has worked in collaboration with healthcare company GSK and iWantGreatCare (iWGC), the world’s largest independent patient feedback platform, for the project. The service offers patients the chance to rate and review not only the care they received from their clinicians, but for the first time, review their prescribed COPD maintenance inhalers.

The ambition is to ensure that patients have a voice to inform their health system, in turn leading to greater patient participation in how their care is provided in Manchester.

Patient survey - access to pharmacies

The Optometry–Pharmacy team at NHS England is currently reviewing Pharmacy services on bank holidays and public holidays.

As part of the review they are engaging with the public to get views on pharmacy access during these holiday periods.

They have produced a short patient survey which is now available by clicking this link. Patient Access Survey
