Tameside Poverty Pilot Information Session

Registration is closed for this event
Are you working with communities in Tameside who may be experiencing poverty? Have you referred anyone to a foodbank or other food support agency in Tameside in the last year? Or maybe you provide food support to people who are struggling financially?

We would like to invite you to a meeting to share our new pilot project. The project is led by GMPA (Greater Manchester Poverty Action) and has brought together a working group including foodbanks, TMBC (Tameside Council), Action Together and Citizens Advice Tameside.

The working group have designed a referral tool that we hope will provide clearer referral routes for those experiencing food poverty.

The aim of this is:

  • To move away from emergency food aid as the main response to food poverty
  • To ensure that people are maximising their incomes e.g. through benefits, grants, or energy saving advice
  • To ensure people who may be in debt or other crisis are able to access the right organisations for support.
  • To start to identify any gaps in support and advice in Tameside for those experiencing food poverty.

We are holding 2 information sessions to show you how the tool works, get your feedback on the process, and hopefully start to work together to embed this approach to food poverty across Tameside – we want Tameside to be a place where people are free from poverty and are not having to rely on food banks to feed themselves or their families.
