Meet the Funder - Violence Reduction Unit - Darnhill
Several boroughs across the city-region have received funding from the VRU as part of its investment in community-led programmes, outlined in Greater Manchester’s Serious Violence Action Plan.
When communities are affected by violence often the key to sustainable solutions can often be found by speaking to local residents about the underlying causes of crime, working with rather than deciding for them.
Working in a place-based way these initiatives are about learning what are the priorities in each community and co-designing services with local people that will benefit their community.
We are holding this meet the funder session for the Darnhill Violence Reduction Unit, where you can find out about:
- Eligibility for investment
- How to apply for the funding
- How to work as an alliance
- How the project will be monitored
- Deadline for applications
- Any questions you might have about the Darnhill VRU
The key focus of the programme is ensuring that young people and stakeholders come together, focussing on a strength-based approach, to identify what’s going on, what’s not happening and to develop ideas from within the community to inform projects and activities.

Expressions of interest are invited from organisations with strong connections within the Darnhill area to form an alliance to work together to develop the key areas identified.
