#WednesdaysWeekly - Sustaining your charity: principles and practices
The workshop begins by reframing the commonest sustainability challenges as a set of paradoxes that everyone can recognise and do something about. After introducing five simple principles, participants will have the chance to identify the practices that can be adopted in their own charities. The workshop concludes with a short overview of the Lasting Difference toolkit and the five capabilities of sustainable organisations:
- Involvement
- Income generation
- Innovation
- Improvement
- Impact measurement
Outcomes
By the end of the workshop, participants will have:
- Broadened their understanding of sustainability
- Identified ideas for improving their charity’s sustainability
- Benefited from sharing learning among supportive peers.
About the facilitator
Graeme Reekie is the Director of the Lasting Difference consultancy (formerly Wren and Greyhound), a small team of charity specialists based in Scotland. He has 30 years’ non-profit sector experience, including 10 as a trustee. In 2016 he created the Lasting Difference toolkit which has now been used by over 7000 charities around the world. His book ‘Making a Lasting Difference’, a fuller exploration of charity sustainability, came out in 2019.
