Every day ‘ordinary’ people make an extraordinary difference within our communities. The chances are that at least one person or volunteer group immediately springs to mind. But have you ever thought of nominating them for national recognition?

Reading the national media coverage of the New Year and Birthday Honours Lists, you might come away with the mistaken impression that honours are only awarded to household names, or the retired who have dedicated their entire lives to community or charitable service.

The reality is that each year The Queen recognises the extraordinary achievements of people and voluntary groups from all walks of life, and all ages, within our community.

However remarkable, people like these can only be recognised if somebody takes the time to nominate them; somebody who knows and can describe the difference that they make. The Greater Manchester Lieutenancy Office are seeking your help to ensure that those people from within your community, who deserve to be recognised, are nominated.
