    About the host organisation

Hosted by: 250th Manchester (St. Mary's) Scout Group
    Organisation Profile:

We are a Scout Group who were formed in 1916. We are based close to Droylsden town centre and our members are from the area.

The aim of the Scout Association is to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential, as individuals, responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities. They do this by providing an enjoyable and attractive scheme of progressive training. Our Scout Group consists of over 60 boys and girls in four sections: Beavers (aged 6-8), Cubs (8-10), Scouts (10-14) and Explorers (14-17) who meet weekly.

The members are encouraged to enjoy and achieve by taking part in badge schemes such are activity badges, challenges, the Chief Scout Award and Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. Each group take part in activities appropriate to their age. The Beavers have learnt about staying safe, Cubs have flown kites, won football tournaments and swimming galas, Scouts learn new skills including pitching tents and cooking outdoors, Explorers hike and are encourage volunteering at the Scout Group and other organisations.
